1. Can I get a restraining order against a neighbor?

Pennsylvania does not have restraining orders. We do have protection from abuse orders (PFAs). These can be obtained on someone you reside with (household member), family member or a current or ex-intimate partner. There are 3 types of PFAs. The first is an emergency PFA, which is only good until the next business day. The second is a temporary PFA, which is good for 10 days and the 3rd is a Final PFA, which can be in effect for up to 36 months. Emergency PFAs can be obtained from the magistrate or after normal business hours or weekends, from night court. Temporary and Final PFAs are obtained from the family division in Pittsburgh.

2. Do I need to call 911 to contact the North Fayette Police?

Allegheny County Communications handles the call taking and dispatch of all emergency and non-emergency calls.  To reach an on-duty officer, you must contact 911

3. How do I obtain a copy of a police report or accident report?

Contact the North Fayette Township Police Department at 412-787-8900 and follow the voice prompts for Lieutenant Steve Psomas.

4. I received a citation. What do I do?

All the instructions can be found on the back of the citation. Additionally, if you received a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Traffic Citation you can pay online at our epay website.

5. If I receive a North Fayette $5 parking ticket, where do I pay it?

The parking ticket can be paid by mailing the ticket, which is an envelope, to the address listed or it can be brought to the North Fayette Township Police Department and placed in the secured mailbox in the lobby. Tickets can also be paid in person to a Customer Service Representative located at the Township office, Monday-Friday, between 7am and 5pm.
Remember, if the $5 parking ticket is not paid within 5 days, the vehicle owner will receive a state citation in the mail.

7. Someone just rang my door bell and asked me if I wanted to purchase some merchandise, should he be doing this?

Solicitation is permitted in North Fayette Township, but only following the issuance of a permit. Ask the person to see their permit. 8. When can I come to the police department and file a report?

Anytime we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Ring the bell or pick up the red emergency phone to reach a 911 dispatcher.
